Story

I’m running a series of ultra marathons in 2026, starting with the Chester 50, to raise money for Running Head First CIC.

Running Head First exists to use movement — running, strength training and community — to support people who are struggling with mental health, confidence, isolation, or a lack of structure. Not as a quick fix, and not as a slogan, but as something consistent and accessible that people can rely on week to week.

I know this works because I’ve lived it.

Running has been a constant through periods of burnout, illness and poor mental health. It hasn’t solved everything, but it has given me clarity, routine and resilience when things weren’t clicking elsewhere.

Running Head First takes that same tool and removes the barriers. It creates a space for people who don’t feel like sport is “for them”, or who just need something steady to anchor themselves to.

Ultra running is hard, but it’s a chosen hardship.

The money raised goes directly into work that helps people build structure, resilience and community when life isn’t giving them much of either.

Every donation supports that work continuing — sessions running, equipment available, and people able to turn up and take part without cost being a barrier.

Thank you for supporting something that genuinely makes a difference.
