Story

I have a hero. My hero is dying. My hero was given six months to live seven years ago. My hero hasn't given up, even though traditional medicine has reached then end of the possible. My hero has Lymphatic Cancer. My hero wakes in the morning and checks for new lumps on her glands, before getting her daughters ready for school. My hero spends her days sticking two fingers up in the best British tradition to cancer and says "not today". I don't know how long my hero has left, and neither does she. Each child's birthday, each family Christmas, each start of a new school year is a victory.

So what is the fundraising for. As I said, traditional medicine ran out of ideas for Nadine three of four years ago. The NHS can provide palliative care and nothing else now. Nadine is now in the world of private funded therapy, that is; Virotherapy Courses, Biomagnetism Therapy, and Gerson Therapy. Each round of these treatments costs around £7,000. So far they have given her time, and hope of one more Christmas.

So what am I doing and why.

Well the why is obvious isn't it? As for who Nadine is to me, well she introduced me to my wife and that means she is responsible for my marriage, my children, and the happiness in my life. I've known Nadine for over 20 years.

As for what, well that is not all that important really, its an excuse to gather donations to support Nadine. I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon, and as usual I have left my training too late, and I'm looking forward to two hours of pain and suffering.

So please, this is not about me, this is about my hero Nadine King. Any donation large or small will be greatly appreciated.
