    Story

Blackburn Children's Reading Festival is set to take place with various events from 19th-23rd June. More information can be found at www.blackburncrf.com soon.

On 20th and 21st June 2000 children will be spending time with an author respective to their age group with a read aloud interactive session at Blackburn Cathedral. There will be a families and communities day on 23rd June also being held at Blackburn Cathedral open to the public FREE. All artists will be performing throughout the day. It is our intention to try and furnish each child from the sessions on the 21st and 22nd with a free book.

There are over 350 literature festivals in the UK with less than 10% solely centered on children, usually secondary to an adult festival and sometimes with cherry picked children interested in English. At Children's Reading Festivals, we want to encourage more dedicated festivals encouraging children from all cultures and backgrounds and of ALL abilities. In 2017 England ranked bottom of the literacy tables for English in the developed world! This is embarrassing, we need to help more at grass roots level. Please visit www.childrensreadingfestivals.com for more information. A not for profit organisation Children's Reading Festivals CIC.

Thank you for reading! Help us to help our children develop through reading.

A very worthwhile project. According to Government figures, 130,000 children every year in the UK leave primary school without being able to read well. Please help to support this project.
