Story
Me & my Brother in Law Zubair are running a Half Marathon on the 1st of October 2017 to raise money to help Amanda get back home ! Being a mother myself hearing Amanda's story broke my heart every little helps so please donate as much or as little as possible to get Amanda back home.
Here is Amanda's story:
On the 20th January 2016 I awoke feeling pretty unwell but with 2 small children aged 2 & 3 you solider on. Well little did I know that 2 hours later my soldiering days were over. Since 6:30am that morning (January 20th – a week after my daughters 2nd birthday) I have been unable to move my legs and I’m completely wheelchair bound! I’m unable to weight bear, stand, lift or move, in fact I have lost the entire ability to move both my legs from the waist down. From that day on I was in 2 separate hospitals (back and forth) for 6 months and spent 3 weeks living in an elderly dementia care home!
I have no diagnosis and the vast array of tests have shown to be inconclusive!
We live in a house (well did!) it has stairs, small doorways and small rooms with no access for wheelchairs, so I haven’t been able to return to our family home. Now we are in a bungalow that is not ours and isn’t equipped/adapted, has no wider doorways, no lowered kitchen work tops, no wet room. The only difference is that this place is on one level and I can just about access the rooms but not in the right wheelchair.
We need our own home adapted, I need to be back with my family and in our home but with adaptions to fit, suit and ones that allow me to become a mother and a wife again. I want to be able to look after myself as well as my family. To bath them again with ease, put them to bed without any access problems or pain from manoeuvring around a carpeted place, to cook them a family meal without complications and to allow my husband to return to work.
Even with the funding that we are entitled too, we do not have enough for all the adaptions and changes our home needs.
