Weʼve raised £295 to buy christmas lunches for isolated individuals in the Cornish community

    Pool, Cornwall, United Kingdom
Funded on Sunday, 11th December 2016

    Story

For a lot of people, Christmas can be a lonely time. Particularly the elderly, who may have lost contact with family and friends, but also for many others.

inspired by an incredible initial donation of £200 by local lady Anne Thorn, The Brea Inn is looking to provide a Christmas lunch for as many people as we can, this year, hoping to bring them back into the community if only for a short time. Each meal can be provided for £10, with waiting staff consisting entirely of volunteers, and the Brea Inn providing a free drink to each diner.

We can cater for up to 40 people each lunchtime, including carers.

We're also asking for diners to be referred by a charity or social services - your donation will go to someone who needs it.

    We're actively seeking referrals from:

    Age Concern
    Meals on Wheels
    Sanctuary
    Shelter
    Coastline
    Outlook SoutWest
    local GP surgeries
    Social Services

BUT... if you know of someone who is genuinely in need, genuinely isolated, then we will consider the case.

This is strictly not for profit. The owner will not be making a profit, and is willing to show books to that effect if questioned. The chef(s) will be paid, but the waiting and bar staff will be volunteers.

The event will run at lunchtimes (12-2pm) at the Brea Inn from 19th - 23rd December.

If you would like to buy a person in need a much needed Christmas lunch - chuck us a tenner. Or more, if you can. The more donate, the more lonely people we can pull together and ease their pain for a couple of hours.

(Any money raised and not used in this years event, will be donated to Age Concern)
