Here at Enlivening our goal is to raise £2000 to deliver at least 61 hot festive 3 course meals and a present (or two) to elderly/lonely people, our regular guests, in Derby on Christmas Day.

We have a ‘guest list’ of 61 and already have £200 plus pledges of £500, however, due to COVID-19 we aren’t able to access the funding we normally receive.

Since 2013 we have hosted a traditional Christmas Day Lunch party at a various venues around Derby on Christmas Day, for the elderly and lonely in Derby. However, sadly, we can’t do the same this year due to COVID-19 so we have opted to have the meals cooked by local restaurants/pubs costing around £30 each with additional delivery costs in some cases.

Albeit it delivering a meal won’t be same as our usual Christmas Day Lunch party as the isolation will still exist for many, but at least our guests will get a hot meal and not have ‘just’ a sandwich on Christmas Day.

Starting with seven guests on Christmas Day 2013 we have expanded and have become well known around Derby resulting with Christmas Day 2019 where we served 121 sit down meals, delivered 42 meals to guests that couldn’t join us at the venue on the day, for varying reasons, plus we provided transport to the venue and home again for 58 guests.

This year, with your help, we hope COVID-19 won’t stop us from bringing a little joy to our guests on Christmas Day this year.
