Story
West Dunbartonshire Supports the People of Palestine campaign group are looking for any help with the considerable costs of running a football tournament and family fun day in Dumbarton on Sunday the 30th of July. The tournament will be run in conjunction with Renton Craigandro football club and will feature a kids bounce tournament with local boys teams followed by a youth tournament featuring a Palestinian team from the Lajee Youth Centre in the Aida Refugee Camp , Bethlehem. There will also be a local side,, a team of Syrian refugees and hopefully a celebrity side. A family fun day with all the usual fun and attractions will also be taking place. Afterwards we will have a social gathering with food and refreshments and everyone is welcome. We would also like to contribute to the huge costs of bringing the youth over from Palestine. As you can imagine most of these kids will never have left the war ravaged area they were born in so there are more than just flight costs to think of, each kid will have to get a passport and visa etc so this is going to push the costs up to over 1000 pound per kid and with around 10 visiting the costs are massive. This is a once in a lifetime chance for these kids to visit our country and meet and forge friendships with our own kids through sport and football. These kids have through so much hardship in their lives and have never felt any sense of freedom so to bring them to Scotland will be something they will cherish and never forget.
On Saturday June the 3rd a large group of us along with our familys and kids will be climbing to the top of the Crags hills in Dumbarton in a sponsored family walk in order to raise money for this wonderful cause. Everyone is most welcome to join us for a great day out in this scenic part of West Dunbartonshire. If you can't join us could you please consider a donation no matter how small to help bring the kids to Scotland. It will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

7 years agoFrom the bottom of my heart, may I just say a huge thank you to everyone who donated or took part in our recent fundraising drive. Between these kind donations, sponsor sheets and our social night we raised a fantastic 2450 pounds. We are absolutely gobsmacked by the kindness of folk and have now been able to donate a good amount to the travel funds to bring the youth from Palestine to Scotland. We will also have enough left to help us with running our summer weekend festival at the end of July where we will be putting on lots of free events.
