Here are some words from Henry (D.A.V.E. The Drummer) explaining what this fundraiser is for :

My beloved wife, friend, rave partner in crime and general tower of strength Justine, has been bravely battling cancer since late 2022

It started out as colon cancer but had also got into her liver and was at stage 4 before we really knew what was going on.

She had an operation to remove the main tumour back in 2023 under the NHS and she was on chemotherapy for a while after that, and things were OK.

But we eventually reached a point where the NHS had run out of ideas. They couldn’t operate on the liver and chemo wasn’t being very effective.

So we chose to move healthcare to the USA where Justine is from.

This involved finding a US healthcare insurance company and setting her up with a plan at the City Of Hope Hospital in Duarte LA with one of the world top specialists at the helm.

Since then Justine has been through several procedures and operations, with varying degrees of success, removing half of her liver and more chemotherapy.

At one point she was even pronounced cancer free, and for a while all was good, she was about to come home, feeling healthy, but sadly it came back and the situation began to worsen.

Every time she went in for an operation it took a lot of time to prepare and recover and during this last period of recovery she began to develop some bowel and stomach related issues.

We also discovered several more spots of cancer in the lymphatic system, her liver is now not functioning properly and the bowel issues are being controlled by a lot of meds and she is on a new course of chemo for the cancer treatment - all of this stuff is taking it’s toll on her body.

We are all very worried and desperately hoping she can pull through, she is battling hard, she needs to get stronger and she is trying, but she needs round the clock care. Our amazing family and friends have been looking after her while I have been working here in the UK trying to keep it all together, house, job, money etc

Of course I have been making frequent visits to LA to see her and stay as long as I can. We have been talking over WhatsApp everyday sharing stupid jokes and memes and making plans for the future and I have been kept up to date with everything that has been going on. It has been so hard to be separated like this for so long.

The bottom line is she cannot return to the UK in this condition, she wants to come back to her family and her house but it’s just not possible to continue treatment back here

We are now looking at a situation where myself and our son Alec are going to need to go over there and be with her for an extended period of time, which will incur quite a lot of cost.

Renting places to stay, flights, insurance bills and possibly lawyers for immigration visas are all things that we will probably need, which will get expensive, plus of course I cannot work while I’m over there. It is a nightmare and we are trying our best to fight our way through it.
