Story
I'm running a 10k on 4th November to help my good friend's Louise's son Louis. Here's more about the lad himself....
Louis is 8.5 years old and was born with Spina Bifida. For Louis this means that he is completely paralysed from the waist down and uses a wheelchair for most of the day. He’s currently using a heavy NHS issue wheelchair and is really struggling to propel it himself which is causing a lot of frustration. He recently had a trial of an RGK wheelchair with power assist wheels. This is an amazing piece of kit and Louis absolutely loved it. It's basically a manual wheelchair with a small third wheel that attaches to the back of the chair, it's battery powered controlled by bluetooth and it makes the wheels move meaning that Louis would just have to steer. The real beauty is that he can switch this off with the tap of his wheel and go back to propelling normally whenever he wants to. This is amazing for hills, long periods of propelling or days where he's very tired. Self propelling is very hard and this piece kit would be life changer for him. Unfortunately, like anything with the additional needs tag, it comes in at a price of £7500 all in for both chair and power assist.
So please dig deep and put a few pounds in to sponsor Paterson. Thank you so much. More deets on the 10k can be found here:
