Story

At Cwmbran High School we deliver the MOVE initiative. MOVE is an activity based programme that uses a combination of knowledge of education, therapy and family to teach pupils with physical disabilities and complex needs the right skills for: Sitting, Standing, Walking, Transferring and Communication.

The aim of the MOVE initiative is to offer these pupils the opportunity of movement and so to open up the world around them.

We have been given the exciting opportunity to create an outdoor space for our supported students in the school. The area is currently a barren, cobbled courtyard which is totally inaccessible for our wheelchair users. Our aim is to create an outdoor area where the pupils can meet with their peers and develop/promote their social and life skills alike, along with boosting their self esteem. This will also give the MOVE staff the opportunity to introduce independent living skills, such as gardening and growing fruit and vegetables.

A selection of staff at Cwmbran High School...some runners (some not) are taking on the challenge of the Newport Half Marathon on March 3rd to raise funds for this exciting new development.

Thank you for taking your time to read.

Any donations will be hugely appreciated, thank you for your continued support
