I've raised £5000 to Support a church in a poor area in Brazil to stay open for another year.

Thirty-three years ago the Lord has blessed and used brothers and sisters to announce the gospel of Jesus Christ in the urban and poor Santa Elizabeth Park neighbourhood in the city of Avaré, Brazil. It started in the house of one of the pastors who began an evangelism and the ministry of the Lord Jesus began the construction of a church on May 22, 1986.
The church today continues with the same mission and vision for which it was created, to care for those who suffer spiritually and physically. From the beginning, this church counts on the participation of many children in their services. Many of the children who were gathered around this church at the beginning of their work, 1986, today make up the membership of this church, fulfilling the Word found in Proverbs 22: 6, "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it".
Today, we continue to serve the neighbourhood in our Sunday school and worship services weekly. The goal is to deal with both the spiritual condition and the physical condition of the children. We have volunteer teachers whose mission is to teach these children about faith and Christian principles, as well as every Sunday a snack is prepared for these children who come to the church, often without any meal.
We currently have the active participation of approximately 50 children weekly. The activities are not limited to Sundays, today we have a room for homework club and music classes. We also help families in the community with food baskets and provide commemorative activities such as: Children's Day, Easter and Christmas.
We understand that children are the gift of our church, above all, we have the conviction that it is they who will carry this church forward.
Since Rev. Marcelo Romeu took over the church, about two years ago, we have seen an amazing spiritual growth. And also a numerical growth that went from 20 people participating in church activities to more than 90 people today. Since we started 25 people were baptised and gave their lives to Jesus and many of the members who were away from the church came back to worship Jesus.
The pastor Marcelo Romeu is married to Christiane, with whom he had two children: Matheus Henrique (9 years old) and Pedro Victor (died 1 year and 3 months old) in the city of Avaré.
Currently the church has built good results in the progress of their projects, but there is still a financial difficulty. Today the amount collected in contributions and donations only accounts for 60% of the monthly expenses. Today our big challenge is the financial issue. We understand that our church has blessed the lives of many people, but it is embedded in a low-income neighborhood.
We want to continue to promote life and we know that only Jesus can make it a truth. We want to continue seeing many lives and marriages being restored, people being cured of their addictions, families being blessed. For this, we want to have a certain peace of mind about finances, because today we are very worried about the lack of resources.
Our goal is to revitalize this church completely, we believe that in the near future we will achieve financial self-sufficiency. But today, we want to count on your generosity in helping us in this period of searching for this goal.
That amount would help us stay out of debt for one year, we could breathe more peacefully while focusing on ministry and caring for people. We count on your contribution so that this work will never cease, and, right now, we thank you praying our God's blessings on your life and your church.
