Story

Friends of CoA far and wide,

Many have noticed that the clock on the tower of Church of the Ascension has stopped working this year.

The façade of the church and the clock, which faces due west, has been a feature of Wall Heath Village life since the church was built in 1892 but after 132 years it seems the synchronous motor has broken.

Whilst many of us may not rely on clocks in this digital age, we have had many comments regarding the clocks standstill. Nestled in the heart of Wall Heath, the church provides not only a place of worship but a community hub of activities for young and old, we know it to be an important feature of our wonderful Village.

Maintaining the church and it's grounds are the responsibility of the church family, which also funds Father Adam's work within the parish, jointly with St Mary's Kingswinford. Other than a few specific grants, the church receives no funds for maintenance and upkeep from funding bodies or Government. For that reason, we are asking for donations to be made to support the repair of the clock tower and return it to it's glory as a centre point for the residents of Wall Heath.
