Introduction
Bore da! I am Ciara an Explorer Scout and Young Leader in Carmarthenshire, South-West Wales. I have been lucky enough to be selected as one of 36 Scouts from South Wales to attend the 25th World Scout Jamboree in 2023, and I am so excited!
About the 25th World Scout Jamboree
The 25th World Scout Jamboree will be held in SaeManGeum, Jeollabuk-do, Republic of Korea. I, and other Explorer Scouts attending, will also have the opportunity to explore other parts of the Republic of Korea.
My Scouting
I’ve been involved in Scouting since 2019, when I joined my local Scout group at 13-years old.
My Scout group are amazing, they kept me as a Scout for an extra 6 months as Covid hit in 2020 so I couldn’t move up to Explorer Scouts during the worst of the pandemic. I am now attending the Explorer Scout group every week; I’ve made fantastic friends and discovered loads of new skills. I’ve also returned to my old Scout Group as a Young Leader to help with the Beavers and Cubs, and hope to continue this for as long as possible.
Fundraising
Over the next 18 months, I will be trying to reach my fundraising target of £3,495 to cover the cost of attending the 25th World Scout Jamboree. This money will also help less fortunate countries to send Scouts to this truly amazing once in a lifetime opportunity.
I will be coming up with lots of fun fundraising ideas, and hope to gain sponsorship from local businesses too!
