Story

I'm raising money for Circular 11 CIC to fund plastic Community Collection Points across Dorset - giving everyone the opportunity to recycle.

The majority of plastic waste sent for recycling ends up in landfills or incineration because it's difficult to separate. Plastic is made from oil, so when it is burned, it releases significant amounts of carbon into the atmosphere, contributing to the acceleration of climate change. It also destroys materials that could be recycled, increasing the demand for virgin plastics. Plastic ends up in our natural environment, causing significant damage to habitats and wildlife.

Circular 11 has developed intelligent manufacturing systems that can recycle mixed plastics that other recycling centres can't, into long-lasting, carbon-negative products, such as benches, planters, and timber alternatives.

Everyone should be given the opportunity to make sustainable choices and have a positive impact on our environment. Circular 11 CIC is setting up Community Collection Points for residents to drop off all types of plastic, knowing that 100% of it will be recycled. Giving communities a simple, local solution to plastic waste.

Circular 11 CIC is setting milestones that trigger donations of hand-made, recycled plastic products, made from the community's plastic, to deserving local community groups. Every 10kg's of plastic collected will equate to 1 Plastic Point.

The first collection target is 175 plastic points, which will enable a donation of a recycled plastic bench to The Stable Family Home Trust, who support adults with learning difficulties. They are setting up a garden at their Bradbury Centre which will enable service users to learn about growing food.

Your donation will directly support the setup and running of these collection points — helping Dorset lead the way in real, sustainable recycling.

Every donation makes a difference — thank you!
