Hi, I just want to let you know about a charity called the Furness Homeless Support Group here in Barrow who deserve more than just a thanks for all the great work they do. I thought that the homeless group just gave a bed for the night, and maybe some food to get some one back on their feet for the day, and there door was open to wait for the next person who needs help. Well how wrong was I!!! The group take people in who have been lost in society by yes some of there own doing but most that have been failed by society that we live in (but that's another story). Once a person has been accepted into the home they are given the opportunity to learn to help themselves, maybe by education or support from other groups and can stay at the home for 6 months or so . The Furness Homeless Group get very little from the state so they rely on local support, either by local business giving food etc or by someone like me running the great north run to support this relatively unknown group. So please sponsor me and lets get this charity recognised for the great work that everyone does to help others.
