I'm raising £3000 to support Spencer and his family!

Organised by Old Town Tug O War

Story

A lot of you will remember our lovely Spencer from last year!

Since Tug O War last year, Spencer has had a new diagnosis of Mitchell Syndrome, which is an extremely rare, progressive neurological disorder characterised by nerve demyelination, sensorimotor polyneuropathy and hearing loss. His body produces so many toxins that attack and damage his nervous system. He is on a lot more medication now to try and clean up the toxins in his body.

Spencer and his family are in regular contact with America to make sure that he’s getting all the help and treatment that he needs. Spencer is the 34th person to EVER be diagnosed with Mitchell syndrome and he is the 13th surviving right now in the whole world.

He has also been diagnosed with bilateral vestibular hypofunction which means that his balance organs have been completed damaged. Ten out of ten parts of the balance organs have been damaged. He is also having a lot of physiotherapy in London, at home and at school to try and keep his balance the best that it can be. He is still having a lot of tests and appoints, with 28 doctors and therapists in 7 different hospitals.

Despite all of this, he remains a happy little boy who doesn’t let anything stop him or get in his way!!

Last year, we told you how Spencer’s Nanny Hayley was battling pancreatic cancer. Sadly, Hayley had to leave us just a short time ago, after putting up the most incredible fight. Hayley was well known in the Old Town, and we can honestly say that she was truly loved by everyone who ever met her.

Hayley had to leave behind 4 beautiful, supportive and courageous children, and her 11 amazing grandchildren. We would like to continue to support Spencer and his family with the ongoing costs involved in Spencer’s care and hopefully some more memory making treats!! We would also like to be able to give her family the funds for a memorial of their choosing for Hayley. This will give them a place for remembrance, laughter and love.

Hayley was so thankful for everyone’s efforts for Spencer last year, and she was promised that when she was no longer here, the Old Town will continue to love and support her beautiful family. So please, dig deep and donate anything you can!
