I've raised £200 to for SKYD,(supporting kernow's young diabetics) We will be running the Bath half Marathon on 17th March.

July 17th 2017 our eldset son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. For us all it was life changing. Jude battles daily with his blood sugar levels, he weighs all his food, counts every carbohydrate he eats, to calculate how much insulin he should administer. Despite this he still plays football, basketball, surfs and enjoys an active childhood on the coast of Cornwall. We are passionate that Jude will have a childhood unlimited by his condition, we just need to plan our lives a little more carefully than most.
This year I will run the Bath Half marathon with my lovely sister Lyn, to raise money for a childrens charity I help to run in Cornwall, which supports local children and families with type 1 diabeties. The SKYD group is a subsidiary of diabeties uk, but in order for any funds raised to come directly to the SKYD group I have set this page up.
The group organises a calendar of free events in Cornwall to support children with type 1. Helping children make friends with other diabetics, to try out new sports and to allow the parents to meet and share experiences. For us as a newly diagnosed family, this support network was vital in those early dark days. Jude was able to see other children, testing their bloods in public, climbing, surfing, rollerskating and having fun whilst managing their condition, this gave him the courage to carry on with the sports he so loves. If you can donate anything however small it will be used to fund other events like this, over the coming year.
