Mary and her family came to the UK when her husband's life was threatened in their homeland, Nigeria. Mary's husband was accused of betrayal, and if he or his family had stayed, all of their lives would be in severe danger. Despite this, their asylum seeker status has been denied in two appeals on the grounds of Nigeria being a large country, therefore they could hide. This view has been disproved by extensive documentary evidence by Amnesty. Mary and her family can't afford to appeal again, especially since the arrival of 3 month baby Alex.
