Please stop for one moment. Imagine having to leave your country, street, bed, clothes, photos, language, neighbours, friends, family, work, community, pets and school etc? It's hard to imagine, isn't it? As Ukraine families eventually make an arduous trek to the UK (for what they hope is a short refuge) – a new set of problems awaits.

Grappling with language barriers, distance and culture – the grief sinks in. The reality is, the life you built, is behind you and the chances of ever returning are uncertain.

In our street we are hosting two Mums, Tonya and Iry along with their young children. My lady will arrive next week. She may escape shelling and bombing, but with resistance. She travelled brack from Poland to Ukraine after 12 weeks waiting for permission to enter the UK.

Their husbands have now been ordered to fight in the Ukraine war. I discovered today, the men have lost their jobs and money and food is scarce.

Both highly qualified beauty technicians, they need materials and equipment to help them be mobile, work locally and provide for their young families.
