Story

I would like to raise funds to buy an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and outside cabinet to store it, for our village. It will be for public access, this can be used to save lives, with help from 999.

A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest.

30,000 people suffer from cardiac arrests every year in the UK, this can happen at anytime, and can affect anyone, including school children.

With the use of a defibrillator, survival rates are significantly increased. Every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces a victim’s survival rate by 7-10% and without immediate treatment, 90-95% of cardiac arrests prove fatal. If a defibrillator is used within 3-5 minutes of cardiac arrest, survival rates jump from 6% to 74%.

In order to raise funds, and boost crowdfunding i am going to run in these events;

- Chester half marathon (29th April)

- Liverpool Rock "n" Roll half marathon (20th May)

- Southport half marathon (1st July)

- Carlisle half marathon (2nd Sept) and Great North Run - half marathon (8th Sept)

- The big one - Chester MARATHON (7th October)

- The last one - Conwy (very hilly) half marathon (18th Nov)

I am running all of these events to fundraise for our village defibrillator!

Please help me fundraise, you never know - if you live in Dodleston, you or your family may need to use a defibrillator one day (but fingers crossed it is not needed).
