This is my friend Claire, and her two gorgeous daughters. Many of you will not have been as lucky as I have to know this beautiful and inspiring woman for somewhere around 20 years. This is the reason I have set up a Just Giving account for her, I hope you will take a moment to read her story.... Claire suffers from Eustachian Tube Dysfunction and Chronic Serous Otitis Media. To you and me this is basically ear infections, but not just any ear infections. From birth, Claire, has suffered from continuous ear infections, burst ear drums and Otosclerosis, where the bones of the inner ear slowly disintegrate. I am sure we can all relate to the agony of an ear infection, now imagine there is nothing that can be done medication to soothe it. Claire has been through many surgeries over the years and has also had a bone enhanced hearing aid (BAHA) as her hearing began to deteriorate. In 2014 her health began deteriorate and she began to suffer from vertigo, debilitating migraines and mastoiditis; which if untreated can be fatal. Eventually she had surgery to remove cholesteatoma and infected tissue, this left her with the challenge of learning to walk again and has left her with a balance imparement. Earlier this year Claire achieved level 1 in British Sign Language, she tells me it totally empowered her and gave her hope for the future. Her wish is to qualify to level 4 and to work with children and young people teaching BSL and also interpreting. There is no funding!! As Claire's current ill health and being on a waiting list for another BAHA prevents her from working she can not fund the course herself, level 2 currently costs £699. So with your help I want to help my friend to achieve her dream. Claire is slowly losing her hearing, but she will never lose her sense of self. She really is one of the kindest most loving people I know and she deserves to have the chance to achieve her goal. Thank you for reading and please give as little or as much as you can. Dee
