Story
Our son Jack will be 2 in Aug, since he was about 10 mths old I've known there was something wrong with the way his development was coming along- in May this year he was allocated a place at Gordon Cottage Child development centre in Kelty, he goes once a week for 1.5 hrs, As I write this he has been going for about 6 weeks. The difference is amazing - Jack is learning to play ( something that should come naturally) and is interacting more with us and others. We are on a pathway to a diagnosis for Jack just now but it's a long road- we suspect that he will eventually be diagnosed with ASD ( autism ) and possibly SPD ( sensory processing disorder) Jack doesn't gesture - i.e. Point/ wave bye bye, doesn't make eye contact with people other than close family, doesn't ask for things he wants either verbally or with non verbal gestures. he is however a happy, healthy wee boy who loves to have fun.
Jack will have challenges all his life but with the right help and support he will be happy throughout these challenges! This support starts with Gordon Cottage, the charity I am fundraising for is Friends Of Gordon Cottage - The charity do brilliant work and the centre benefits greatly from their help.
The Friends Of Gordon Cottage charity was established in order to:
Promote the welfare of children with additional support needs who are using or have used the centre
To assist the staff in the centre to further achievements of the children attending the centre
To assist parents of the children who either attend or have previously attended the centre
To provide funds to buy equipment and to enable children to visit places of stimulating interest
To assist in the education of the public at large with a view to being a fully inclusive society
On 24.09.17 I will do a sponsored sky dive to raise funds for this brilliant cause- Clarke and I are paying for the skydive so all sponsor money will go to the charity so please, please give what you can.
Thank you
Claire x
