Since moving to India I have been volunteering at a school in a Mumbai slum run by a Canadian woman who started the school 20 years ago teaching slum kids English in her living room. Tania then set up One International and works tirelessly to teach literacy and life skills to children living on the streets of Mumbai by providing education, nutrition, health care, housing support and protection from abuse.

This Christmas, please spare a thought for these wonderful children. Any donation is welcome - nothing is too small! These kids are the most amazing I have ever encountered and live in poverty with parents who are unable to take care of them, or put them to work begging before they even have a chance to break the cycle of poverty. Almost all of them have at least one alcoholic (and often abusive) parent and the chance at education is the only thing that might help them have a future they deserve.

The school is in desperate need of school equipment such as chairs and desks, books, and even basic things like paper, pencils and clean clothes.
