Story

I'm doing Dry January in 2026 in aid of Nuneaton North Scout Group Minibus Appeal

My Dad was involved in Scouting all his life, as a youngster at 1st Ansley Hall and as Group Scout Leader when the group changed its name to Nuneaton North. I was involved from when I was born and have fond memories of many summers on scout camp.

I have been an adult volunteer in Scouting since 1982 when I began as a Cub Scout Instructor. Accounting for a few years when I wasn't involved 2026 will be my 40th year of adult volunteering for Scouts.

I am currently Group Chairman and Trustee at Nuneaton North Scout Group but will be retiring in 2026 (although still helping out when needed). As a final wave I would like to add funds to our appeal for a very much needed minibus since our old one has become no more.

A minibus is a vital part of our provision for young people to help provide activities and opportunities both near and far. Many of our families have no or limited transport so even taking Cubs swimming is difficult without our own transport.

I will be doing Dry January in 2026 with the hope of raising £400 which equates to £10 for every year I have been a Scouter. This will help towards the Group's aim of raising £10,000 - we are currently a third of the way.

I would really appreciate your help as I reach my 40 year service to Scouting - thank you so much

I will be posting updates as I enjoy a variety of non-alcoholic drinks, a chance to make a few mocktails, and as I host a wine tasting evening towards the end of January!

(enjoy the photos hee hee)
