Weʼve raised £3,648 to Help the Staff of the Claremont Hotel in Eastbourne, East Sussex recover for Christmas following the devastating blaze.

    Eastbourne, East Sussex
Funded on Tuesday, 31st December 2019

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

    Story

At 9am this morning (22nd Nov 2019), the Claremont Hotel on Eastbourne's seafront was devastated by fire. The Grade II listed building has been gutted as the fire raged all day. One hundred and thirty guests were safely evacuated by the staff and displaced to other hotels. The staff and owners have lost their livelihood and anyone living in the hotel will have lost all their possessions. Let's help them with something towards replacing belongings and/or to have a better Christmas. Our thoughts are with them all.

Hello All! I just thought I'd let you know that I have passed the money raised by all the lovely supporters on this page to the accounts team at Daish's. They will ensure that it is shared between all the staff, which means they will receive about £120 each. Thank you so much, once again - this is a lovely big Tip from the Town! Alison

I thought I’d post an update on what’s happening with the funds that you have all donated so generously as it has been some time since the fire. . I elicited the help of Stephen Lloyd as he was ideally placed to identify the contacts I would need to pass on the funds. We felt it best to wait until the end of this month in order to identify those staff members who may still be in need of help and support. I have an arrangement to speak to the Hotel manager later this month so we’ll make sure the help goes where it’s needed most. Thank you!
