Story
At 9am this morning (22nd Nov 2019), the Claremont Hotel on Eastbourne's seafront was devastated by fire. The Grade II listed building has been gutted as the fire raged all day. One hundred and thirty guests were safely evacuated by the staff and displaced to other hotels. The staff and owners have lost their livelihood and anyone living in the hotel will have lost all their possessions. Let's help them with something towards replacing belongings and/or to have a better Christmas. Our thoughts are with them all.

4 years agoHello All! I just thought I'd let you know that I have passed the money raised by all the lovely supporters on this page to the accounts team at Daish's. They will ensure that it is shared between all the staff, which means they will receive about £120 each. Thank you so much, once again - this is a lovely big Tip from the Town! Alison

4 years agoI thought I’d post an update on what’s happening with the funds that you have all donated so generously as it has been some time since the fire. . I elicited the help of Stephen Lloyd as he was ideally placed to identify the contacts I would need to pass on the funds. We felt it best to wait until the end of this month in order to identify those staff members who may still be in need of help and support. I have an arrangement to speak to the Hotel manager later this month so we’ll make sure the help goes where it’s needed most. Thank you!

I am an Eastbourne resident, living out at Langney Point. I have not been affected personally by today's fire but wanted to do something. I have previously raised funds for some historical artefacts in order to keep them in Eastbourne as well as funds for the Migraine Trust.
