Story

Year 11 have had an awful last year of secondary school, but the one thing that has been getting most of them through it, has been the promise of an end of term event - in previous years this has been called a Prom.

The year group were first told that due to the Covid restrictions, a 'Prom style event' would be held, this was then being described as a 'Prom' by the children and teachers alike. The children were promised in no uncertain terms that whatever happened, there would be an end of term event of some description.

Fast forward to the latest delay on the lifting of restrictions, and the children and parents were sent a short letter of apology stating that due to the delay on lifting restrictions, no prom would be taking place at all. Everything was cancelled. No offer of a different date, different style of event, or any other plans at all.

We, as a group of parents feel that after the year they have had, the children deserve (and in most cases need) a chance to celebrate the end of what has been an awful final year of schooling for them all.

We want to organise the best Prom we can, ensuring that every single child that would like to attend, is able to. The school are giving us absolutely no help, and have absolved themselves of all responsibility and involvement.

We are seeking the funds to be able to hire a venue, ensure all relevant insurances are covered, provide some food / catering facilities, music, photo booth etc.... in essence, we want to give them the best night we can.

Thank you for reading, and for any donation that you can afford to give. Please spread the word and share as wide as you can.
