I've raised £500 to Help Clay through his recovery

Hi, we are trying to raise some funds to help Clay through recovery from his knee surgery.
We rescued Clay at 13 weeks old, he was the runt of the litter and very very shy! He has over come so many obstacles in his life so far and has never let anything get him down. If you are ever lucky enough to meet him, you have no choice but to fall in love and let him slobber all over you, there are even a few select people he will give big wet kisses to! He is such a happy go lucky boy with a real spark for life and a gentle nature.
Clay had to have knee surgery to put an implant in his right knee when he was 9 months old, due to the cartilage not forming properly on the upper portion of his knee.
The surgery went really well (thanks to all of the staff at Southern Counties vets) and after his recovery he was almost like new! He could finally run around the forest, jump on his dad and terrorise his mum like a puppy should, albeit with a bit of a limp and squeak when he scratched!
For the last couple of years, we learnt to work around his knee and how tired his leg got after a walk, this included weekly hydrotherapy sessions (Thanks Pam!), lots of assisted range of movement exercises and a good few painkillers and anti-inflammatories!
However, over the last few months Clay’s knee has become worse to the point where we have had to restrict his walks to one 20 minute lead walk per day. We took him back to Southern Counties Vets for X-rays to check his knee and unfortunately his implant has started to come loose and be rejected by his body.
Clay now needs another surgery to remove the implant. The Vets are going to take plugs of bone and cartilage from around his knee and potentially from his good knee to fill the hole left by the implant. They are hoping this will knit back together to become part of his knee and that should give him better range of movement and hopefully a pain free life!
Due to Clay’s breed (Presa Canario) only 2 insurance companies offered to insure us and they wanted over £200 per month to cover him. We decided to start saving some money just in-case anything ever goes wrong, then it did! Due to this, to pay for Clay’s first surgery we had to use all of our savings and our amazing families helped with a lot of the costs (we are probably about £10, 000 all in, including therapy to date).
This time around the Vets have given us a greatly reduced price on the surgery, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to afford to fix Clay. We are only asking for money to help Clay with his recovery, to buy him items to help keep him occupied and stimulated while he is on bed rest and help pay towards some physical and hydro therapy when he is ready.
Any amount you can donate would be greatly appreciated and would help massively towards Clay’s recuperation! We will be setting up an Instagram and YouTube page to document his journey towards running free once again!
Thank you and big slobbler
