Story
Myself and the team in support of George Amouye‘s foundation are going to be taking part in different challenges over the next year to try to raise awareness and fund raise to help newborn babies in Ghana receive the healthcare and support they need as soon as they are born.
Thankyou to everyone who has supported our fundraising so far. With existing fundraising we have already put a roof on a school, supplied water to a secondary school, built an orphanage. Made an IT room in a school so children can sit their GCSE’s. We have also donated hospital beds, wheelchairs and enabled medical procedures to take place that prevented blindness with 4 people.
On my visit to Ghana the one experience I couldn’t face was the screams of pain for the mothers, no support, facilities were minimum to none, no pain relief, no food or nappies or wipes and on top of that when the babies were born their parents couldn’t afford to take their babies home. But the one thing that hurt the most was that there was no men supporting the mother with their child. I then found out that most of these women were made pregnant and they didn’t know there are no funds to get tests. Some of the women are forced to have sex unwillingly and then they are forced to bring up the child alone! We want to help! George Amouye’s foundation is aiming to bring to light these crimes. Educate women who want families that they can in a clean maternity ward with trained staff. We just want them to have a little like what we have. I will be taking part in a number of different challenges to help fundraise for these and the first of these this year will be the 10k Greater Manchester Run in May 2024 and the Iron Man in June.
All support is massively appreciated, I will keep you all updated along the way with training logs and photos.
I fully appreciate not everyone will be in a position to donate but if you could please help share the work of the charity and awareness of the fundraising we are doing we would really appreciate it <3
