Story
Climping Beach is one of a dozen or so Strategic Rural Gaps around the coast of the UK. It is located on the busy & crowded South coast and provides an oasis for nature in an ever built up part of the country. The beach is loved by walkers, dogs, bird watchers, horse riders, fishermen & of course simply beach goers looking for a more "natural" beach where they can spend a sunny day.
Until recently, it was also home to a large section of the coastal path in the South, however this has been blasted by storms over recent years and the path has been obliterated; making disabled access to the beach more difficult.
Although the environment agency help by moving shingle around the beach each year to try and protect the beach, it is clear to regular visitors that this is not really solving the problem.
We have decided that the time has come for the community and friends of the beach to try and help to preserve this environment for wildlife, pets & people alike. We aim to identify a more permanent and meaningful solution to protect the beach. To this end, we are starting the process of raising funds towards the project via this crowd funding exercise.
In addition to this crowd funding, we will also be holding a Dog Fun Day event in the fields by the beach on September 23rd in order to raise funds towards the project. Please do come and join us on the day.
The first stage of this community project will be to examine the possible options available to help preserve the beach and its environment & report back to you all. We will see where we go from there.
This is a project that is being driven by volunteers who care about this beach and the environment around it and want to ensure, as far as possible, that it remains as beautiful as it is today. We are doing this for those who love and enjoy the beach and its open spaces. We want to ensure that it remains a haven for wildlife and remains a special place for future generations to visit.
