Story
My husband is 40 years old, a fit healthy man who has won boxing titles in semi professional boxing.
We have two young daughters, 7 and 5 years old. In March he was found at the bottom of the stairs and was unable to move. An ambulance was called and we were taken to Preston hospital where we were told he had damaged his C4 and C5 vertebrae and had also sustained damage to his spinal cord. Clint had to go straight for 8 hour spinal surgery, his vertebrae were fixed with metal and pins and surgery was thankfully successful.
My husband remained in intensive care and, is currently still in an ICU setting.
A consultant informed us that my husband was paralysed from the neck down in all 4 limbs and after some time in hospital he was transferred to a specialist spinal rehabilitation centre to undergo rehabilitation.
Due to the pandemic the rehabilitation services have been stopped because of the risk of cross contamination of coronavirus and so, Clint's not able to receive the level of rehabilitation he would which will hinder his recovery. We have been informed that certain items of equipment that will help his recovery when he is at home aren't available via NHS funding but, you can access them privately.
At present he has had some movement back in his arms and is off a ventilator. It's the steps forward you make that gives you hope for the future. However there is much more that can be done when he is home to help his recovery.
The reason I am raising these funds is so that my husband will have access to all the equipment he needs in order to have the best possible chance at recovery. We will need adaptations for him to live as independently as possible and, we have no other way of accessing this equipment without fund raising. As a family we are so driven and determined to do everything in our power to help him make recovery! We honestly appreciate any and every donation to help us!
Thankyou x
