🪂 I’M TAKING THE PLUNGE! 🪂

On August 21st, I’m going to be jumping out of a perfectly good airplane at 15,000 feet for a tandem skydive at Langar Airfield!

As Mayor, I wanted to do something big to kickstart the fundraising for my two brilliant nominated civic charities. My goal is to raise a minimum of £1,000 to split between them, and I’m asking for your help to get there. Both of these organisations mean an awful lot to our community and do life-changing work right here on our doorstep.

Here is a bit about why I’ve chosen to support them:

🏖️ Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre (DCHC)

The History: DCHC has been supporting local children for over 130 years, starting all the way back in 1891 with a simple but powerful mission: to give kids facing hardships a proper break.

What They Do: They provide free, week-long seaside holiday breaks at their centre in Skegness for disadvantaged children from Derby and Derbyshire. For many of these kids, it’s their very first time ever seeing the sea, creating memories that last a lifetime.

🏠 The Living Recovery Foundation

The History: This foundation was set up to directly tackle the devastating impacts of dependency in our community, supporting vital local recovery initiatives like the brilliant work done at Jericho House in Alvaston.

What They Do: They provide a safe, structured, and deeply supportive residential environment for men recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. They don’t just help people beat addiction; they give them the tools, holistic support, and aftercare to completely rebuild their lives and futures.

To make falling through the sky at 15,000 feet worth it, I need your help to smash that £1,000 target! Every single penny raised stays local and goes directly toward helping children who need a break and individuals fighting for a fresh start.
