    Story

***Funds raised will be split between my cousin and the neurology department at the RVI .... the same month my cousin got diagnosed unfortunately my gorgeous little mum also was .... they received surgery the same week, in the same hospital, on the same ward and all staff have been and continue to be absolutely amazing and it makes me feel a little bit happier to know I can give something back to such an amazing team so please give what you can no matter how small every penny will be massively appreciated ❤❤❤ thankyou in advance .... here's Gavins story ❤ .....

I don't even know where to start with this so I'm just going to ramble a bit and hope it gets the point across ..... basically my 30 year old cousin Gavin had been having fits .... he went to the hospital for tests and stuff and they thought it was epilepsy but when tested for that he didn't have it .... they sent him for a brain scan and came back with the heartbreaking results nobody ever wants to hear ... he had a brain tumour. The whole family and everyone who knows him was gutted, struggling to take it in. You just never expect to hear that about anyone so close to you or so young and full of life.

Gavin is singlehandly THE bravest most positive person I've ever met and am lucky enough to have as family . The love he has for his fiancé Clare and his children Chloe, Blake, Brendan and Jessica is unbeatable, they are his life. Not once since finding out has he ever complained he's just taken everything in his stride and dealt with it like a hero .... his motto 'clocked it' he knew he had to get through it for his family. In his words "this isn't beating me - I've got two daughters to walk down the aisle and two sons to mock when they bring girlfriends home - I've got no choice."

His fiancé Clare is literally superwoman I don't know how she's coped but she's been his absolute rock, keeping the family strong and smiling. I can't even imagine having to do what she's doing - raising four kids, the youngest a newborn baby at the time, aswell as finding out the love of your life has a brain tumour and looking after him after surgery, she's an actual angel never once did she feel sorry for herself she just got on with it and did what she had to do as I suppose you'd have to in that situation.

He has since had surgery to remove the tumour .... again an absolute hero ..... sitting up and talking just a day after surgery determined to get back up and on his feet and back home to his family where he belongs but unfortunately his battle isn't over. He is currently waiting for MRI results to show his brain after surgery and awaiting treatment. Being the absolute trooper that he is he's already wanting to go back to work to do things he's never had to worry about being able to do such as paying his bills etc .... he's needing to go back to work to do what he does best .... supporting his family but the doctors understandably won't sign him off to work and down to zero hour contracts (even though he's been with his company and earned good money for years) his "sick pay" .... as if he's got a broken leg or something .... isnt even enough to cover monthly rent let alone everything else.

It breaks my heart to know hes struggling through something that's no fault of his own in the slightest so I've put together this page for anyone who is kind enough to donate even just a little to help my cousin and his family during this shit shit shit time. I'm hoping to raise enough to take the financial pressure off him Clare during a time they shouldn't have to stress about anything other than Gavin getting better.

The night for the charity fundraiser is Sunday 8th October at bijoux bar newcastle .... if anyone wants tickets to come please email lora-slih@icloud.com

He is probably going to hate me for writing all this as he's way too proud to ask for help from anyone and completely hates the thought of people feeling sorry for him but I can't sit back and watch him struggle after all he's been through and everything he's going through so I'm doing it on his behalf (Sorry Gavin!) so literally anything anybody can donate no matter how small every little amount will be truly appreciated from the bottom of my heart ❤❤❤❤
