Story

Beau has been nominated for The Courage Award, sponsored by Close Brothers Asset Finance, as part of the Burton Mail Heroes Awards.

Beau is a bubbly 6 year old from Cauldon in Stafffordshire. He has the most infectious smile ever. His best friend is his twin brother Seth. They spend all their time giggling, playing tractors and getting into mischief. But, as the boys get older Beau is beginning to notice he is not the same as his brother, as Seth can walk, and Beau cannot. I am now faced with the difficult question, “Why can’t I walk?”

Walking is something lots of us take for granted, but for Beau it is something that he is working tremendously hard for. Beau always gives 100% effort and always with a smile on his face, but to help him on his way and to fulfil his dream of walking with his brother, we are raising funds to send him to America for an operation.

There is no cure for Cerebral Palsy but there is a life changing surgery called SDR Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. This is a special technique that involves cutting some of the damaged sensory nerve fibres which are causing the muscle stiffness that come from the muscles and enter the spinal cord.

Please help make Beau’s dream come true.
