Story
We are Clwyd Boxing Club, based in Rhyl, North Wales.
This Boxing club was formed in March 1989 by the late, John Richard Jones.
To date we have produced 38 Welsh champions, 2 silver & 2 bronze medals at the Four nations championships, 1 Commonwealth games boxer, 6 Welsh novice champions, 2 NABGC’s Welsh champions & recently we have had 2 Odivelas box cup champions, tournament based in Portugal.
Coaches at Clwyd Boxing Club are volunteers, giving up many hours of their time for free, coaching up to 8 different classes each week. We are a self-funded Amateur Boxing Club and we rely on organising 3-4 Amateur Boxing shows a year, to keep the club running. Clwyd Boxing Club not only helps boxer’s to compete at a high standard of Amateur Boxing, but also teaches self-discipline, self-respect, respect for others & self-confidence. We have more than sixty participants at Clwyd Boxing Club, Males & Females from the ages of 6yrs to Senior/Adults, that are attending these training sessions each week.
We had our latest Amateur Boxing tournament on the 8th/9th March 2019. We held two shows to celebrate 30yrs of Clwyd boxing club being established.
