Story

The Challenge

On 27th April 2019, a team of Grove House Kitchens and friends will be donning our lycra and cycling non stop from Whitehaven to Tynemouth , a gruelling 140miles/225km ride for an amazing cause. Our aim is to raise £3000 to donate to Freddie's Fight.

About Freddie's Fight

Freddie was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer called Neuroblastoma. He has unfortunately been diagnosed as stage 4 high risk. This means Freddie has a 35% chance of survival. With the nature of his cancer over half of those children will relapse if they ever get to remission. If this ever happens there is a 1 in 10 chance of survival.

As promising as new treatments are in the UK, it only increases chances slightly and children are still relapsing from this cruel disease. Through the advancements of American research (which are 20 years ahead of the UK), there are increasingly positive signs that a vaccine has been invented which is giving children a lot higher chance of becoming cured from this awful cancer! The Bivalant vaccines have benefited a large number of children in the UK which wouldn’t have any other options if they faced another relapse on the NHS.

The cost to potentially save Freddie's life is huge, so please help us get Freddie this medication that he needs, so he can grow up to be a happy, smiley little boy again.
