Story
On the evening of Friday July 3rd, hours after the Prime Minister confirmed that recreational cricket could commence, as planned on July 11th, Cockfosters Cricket Club was seriously vandalised - the worst instance of vandalism in the memory of most of us involved in the club.
We are able to claim repairs back for the senseless vandalism, one of several such cases since the outbreak of Covid-19 but since the committee had decided to invest in our infrastructure and focus on developing local youth by installing a new artificial wicket, purchasing all new training equipment and developing our practise areas we have been left with a woeful shortfall in funds that would enable us to install preventative measures - roll down shutter, CCTV and such things that would hopefully deter such senseless crime from taking place.
We know there are a lot of appeals out there at this unprecedented time, we know a lot of people are under a lot of pressure but any donation would mean a lot to us so that we can better protect ourselves and the community we serve from this sort of incident in the future. We hope to soon have our sides out in the field each weekend and start generating some income, safeguarding the great game of cricket for generations to come in the Cockfosters Area.
Measures we’d like to install include:
-Roll down shutters for all doors & windows
-Motion sensor lighting
-Flame retardant flooring for the veranda
- CCTV
-Security signage
