Story

CODPUK is a member-led charity working to ensure hearing and Deaf children of Deaf adults develop a sense of identity from an early age and encourages their engagement in both British Sign Language as well as spoken language. We provide a safe environment to discuss parenting issues and are dedicated to improving communication and relationships between Deaf and hearing family members as well as the wider community through activities, events and workshops.

To help raise funds for our 2019 events, we, the committee members (Emma Burton, Rupa Makhecha-Reeves, Susanna MacDonald and Lydia Docker), are putting on our trainers and heading to the start line of the Hampton Court Half Marathon on 17th March (Emma and Rupa) and Surrey Half Marathon on10th March (Susanna and Lydia). We have been training hard, up in the early dark hours of the morning to put the miles in while still juggling work and childcare.

Please support us by donating through our Justgiving page. Every donation, however small, will make a difference to our charity and to the social engagement of the kids we support. Funds raised, will enable us to host various events in the year to bring families together where they can share experiences and seek advice. One of our core aims is also to reduce bullying at school for hearing kids with Deaf parents by raising awareness about the Deaf community and British Sign Language. We want to ensure our kids grow up confidently and safely in a rich bi-lingual rich environment.

Thank you again for all your support!
