Story
Hi everyone,
This is Mary, Gina and Tara here from Shropshire.
All three of us were unfortuantely diagnosed with Breast Cancer during the COVID pandemic. We have been through aggressive chemotherapy which tried to take our hair!!! As young women our hair is a huge part of us and not something we thought might be taken away from us so young.
Enter, the Paxman Scalp Cooling System. This is a treatment available for anyone undergoing aggressive chemotherapy like us. It works by cooling your scalp during your chemotherapy sessions to minimise the damage to your hair follicles, hopefully resulting in your hair staying intact.
Trust us on this one, it wasent easy! It was COLD and sometimes unbearable but it was a treatment we felt passionate to Undertake If it meant us keeping our hair.
To give men and women the opportunity to use this treatment is amazing but of course it does come at a price. The Lingen Davies Centre at Shrewsbury Hospital currently has two machines that can be used on three people. That means if more than three people want to utilise this treatment, they could end up having their chemo delayed or even worse, they may not be able to have the cold cap at all.
We DO NOT want that to be the case. So, we are raising £12,000 for a brand spanking new machine for this amazing hospital that has helped us fight cancer and preserve those little hair follicles! This would allow for two more people to utilise the system alongside the three already allowed. We would love your help!
