I've raised £6000 to help get the deceased mother of Topsham Rugby player, Adam Buckley back from The Gambia to get buried in her home place of Torquay.

Adams mother Michelle was very much a free spirit. She would often travel alone and grew to love The Gambia as it helped with her fibromyalgia condition. She also liked to help lots of families that were living in poverty and very much in need. She loved animals and to be at one with nature where she took great pleasure in taking photos and painting them.
Chelle was recently back home in the UK visiting Adam and his wife and spending quality time with her two grandchildren. This is where I first met and got to know her as we walked my dog along Dawlish Warren with our families. Even then she would stop to talk to strangers and ask about their dogs, this was the type of great human being she was.
Chelle travelled back to the Gambia only a short while ago to then be admitted to hospital with an infection. Adam and Hayley were doing their best to get her back when they suddenly got the terrible news that she had passed away. We all know that to travel abroad with no insurance is very unadvisable and a omplete gamble but Chelle did not have much money and this is what she chose to do. Due to Chelle having no personal insurance and no belongings of any value she is now in a mortuary where she can be held for no longer than 2 months. There is no option to be cremated there as it is predominantly a muslim country and against the countries religion. This would have obviously been a less costly option to be able to fly her back. Adam and Hayley have considered all options and the most cost effective is to fly her back and get buried here in the UK.
The best quotation we have recieved is £4500 to fly her home and the funeral cost is around the £1500 mark although this seems to be rising everytime we look at it.
Adam and Hayley are not in a situation where they can afford this and although a very proud couple I have offered to get this page going to see if we can all chip in and make it possible so Chelle can be laid to rest here and Adam and his family get to see his mother off properly. I urge you to dig deep in this time of need and whether its sharing this story or donating, even a few pounds would really help as we are very much against the clock.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope we can do this for a very good man and his family.
