Story
I need help. I was shopping at our local Aldi when I saw a man doing something by a wall, when I asked him what he was doing, he said, " I am trying to put this bird in a safe place". It was a Swift, and it would not have survived for long there. The parent birds would not land to feed it and if a cat happened upon it, then it would also be doomed! Call me mad, but I thought okay I might be able to help this bird, but after spending over £60 in one month on food, and with two failed attempts at a release, I am now resigned to have to keep it over winter. I do not have a problem with the time that I will have to spend to look after and feed this guy or gal, but would like some financial help. From fifty pence to five pounds or more if you can. These birds are amazing, when it finally leaves my hand, it will not land again for two years, feeding and even sleeping on the wing, until it comes back to breed and raise it's own chicks. That must be worth a try. To hold this bird in my hand is a joy, but to see it fly away will be joy beyond words!
