I met with Claire Adaobi AGU and without being told you will not know the pain she has had to live with for the past 3years. She's had to give up her career as a Nurse because of a fatal injury she sustained. Below is a recount in her own words.

"About 3yrs ago, I slipped and had a fall. While trying to break the fall, i landed on the left knee. I noticed severe pain on the knee and difficulty in standing or walking. X -rays were done and fracture of the distal end of the femur was seen probably with an intra articular extension. Skeletal traction was applied for about 2weeks after which Surgery was done, cast was applied and I was mobilized on non weight bearing bilateral axillary crutches. However, I have been unable to bear weight or walk without crutches. Subsequent x-rays done were thought to reveal post traumatic osteoarthritis with significant reduction /almost complete obliteration of the knee joint space. After consultation a total knee replacement surgery was adviced"

She has previously had two surgeries which didn't go well as she still can not place any weight on her left knee.

She now requires a 3rd surgery for total knee replacement and rehabilitation after the operation.
