Story
In April 2009, St Ciaran's Ballygawley sent a group of teachers and pupils to Mulenga (near Kitwe) in Zambia. Augher born Fr PJ Gormley (SMA) had been there for a number of years and was attempting to develop the living facilities over there.
It was decided that St Ciaran's Peregrini would aim to support the growth of this community and so a partnership began. It was agreed that the building of a nursery school was of utmost priority, followed by supporting the community in their construction of a church/ community centre.
Thanks to the generosity of donations and countless volunteer efforts, we were able to send a container full of building equipment and educational materials to Mulenga in 2010/2011. In 2013, St Ciaran's Nursery School was officially opened and the new Church was able to hold Easter ceremonies with over 900 people in attendance.

Fr PJ's third project in Zambia, a community centre where young people could learn some farming skills, is nearing completion.
The 2022 group will be the 7th group from St Ciaran's Peregrini that will travel to Zambia, and it is hoped that the good work in the area will be continued. By making a donation, you will be contributing to the future projects in the area. Thanks for taking the time to read a brief history of our story and thank you for your continued generosity.
