Story

"Making money is Art and working is Art and good business is the Best Art" Andy Warhol.

Colour Me in Art School and Excellence in Learning Community are working together with 13 Primary Schools in Enfield to produce a week long Art Exhibition , being held in Dugdale Centre 30th June - 6th July.

The Theme is "The Community of Enfield", looking at the artist Andy Warhol's cash murals as Enfield is the first town to have an ATM machine in the UK. There will be a cash mural from each school, with the logo of Enfield broken into its different animals, such as the greyhound, fox, lion, eagle, wolf and of course the mythological creature The Enfield which is a combination of all these animals. Each animal represents a word, which each school will own, such as wisdom, royalty, courage, strength, prowess, intelligence and endurance - these words all resembling the values of Enfield.

All money raised will go the Excellence in Learning Community which will provide funds for the Enfield schools within this partnership. This will provide more opportunities for enrichment and creativity programmes within the education system. This is essential as part of children's mental health and well being, along with providing an optimal learning environment for children to develop. The current situation is that schools are increasingly under financial and time pressure which results in creative subjects being neglected.

Research is now showing that there is a link between the lack of creativity and the rise of mental health conditions in children and young adults*. We believe that the next generation deserves to have access to a fantastic creative education that will enhance, not only their lives, but the community and the economic well being of the local town and ultimately the country.
