A team of 15 are running the Ipswich Half Marathon to raise money for Combat2Coffee! For those that don’t know, Combat2Coffee is a CIC set up in 2018 by Nigel Seaman that is committed to producing, selling, and serving the finest coffee which enables their mission to improve the mental health, wellbeing, and outcomes for veterans, ex-uniformed personnel, their families, and communities. Mental health is an important aspect of everyone’s life, whether it be good or bad. Combat2Coffee are urging all people wanting support with their wellbeing to reach out. Don’t sip in silence!

Any donations mean they can keep up the great work they are doing. More info can be found at www.combat2coffee.co.uk – don’t forget to follow & like their social media too!

Please read below for a message from the runners:

Cliff:

I am running the half marathon for Combat2Coffee to continue the great work the project does. I have seen first-hand the difference the team make. As a veteran and retired uniform service worker, I am behind the ethos of the project 100%. On a personal note, I had lifesaving brain surgery last year and I have set myself personal goals in what is another chance at life!

Connor:

I’m running the half marathon in support of Combat2Coffee to raise money to help those with mental health issues, as someone who suffers myself it is really good to see the positive effect of the work Nigel and the team have on others lives and wellbeing in the community.

Edwin:

I was in the army and I am passionate about raising funds and awareness for the mental health of ex-military people, I am grateful to be a part of this great cause and amazing community. I spent the past 2 months on the Camino de Santiago, a 900km hike from France to Spain raising money for other charities. I am so excited to pick up the pace by running this half marathon with C2C!

Gavin:

Having lost a best friend 28 years ago through mental health, I saw first-hand the pressures it caused on their loved ones. Nigel and the team at C2C work tirelessly to support military, ex-military, and now anyone who reaches out to them… let’s hope this raises more awareness for the project and opens a few doors for a massively underfunded sector. Good luck Major Brew!

Lisa:

I cannot wait to take this challenge on for Combat2Coffee. I have known Nigel for many years and was excited to raise awareness and funds for a fantastic cause that is very close to my heart. On medical grounds, I was told to stop running due to issues with my heart last November after collapsing. Day to day life is a challenge but I've been given the green flag to run again at a very steady pace and ongoing tests, I cannot wait take this challenge on. Let’s go team Combat2Coffee!

Mel:

I feel humbled to be asked to join this challenge. I have been in the fire service for 23 years and over this time have experienced ups and downs. I can't thank Combat2Coffee enough who have offered my colleagues so much support and more importantly a listening ear. I hope you can help us to reach our target and cheer us along the way.

Molly:

From working for C2C I have seen the real impacts the project makes in the community. So many people struggle with mental health, so opening conversations about it is so important! All donations go towards real outcomes that make a massive difference. #DontSipInSilence

Ollie

It's a great honour to be asked to run for C2C in this year's half marathon. Having worked in the emergency services for 30 years, I have seen first-hand the effect traumatic incidents have on people. Talking is vital. I have known Nigel for years and what he is achieving is fantastic, I have witnessed first-hand people opening up and talking about issues they have been carrying for years. May the successes continue and many more people benefit from this great organisation.

Rob:

C2C has made a huge difference in the local community, I am running the half marathon in support of the work ongoing by Nigel and his team to carry on the great work helping others in different circumstances.

Steve:

Having experienced both PTSD and then the support of charity in order to overcome that, I see the importance and value in talking about mental health, the vital role that the third sector plays in that and also giving people support as their lives and circumstances change. C2C has made a huge difference in Suffolk and should be applauded for its dedication to its raison d'être and the local community.

Paul:

Having served with Nigel and been involved with the amazing work C2C have been doing in the community, I am running this half marathon dressed as Major Brew to help raise awareness and funds so C2C and Nigel can continue this amazing work.

Thank you again for your support and donations! & Please don't forget to reach out if you need support. #ChangingLivesOneSipAtATime #DontSipInSilence
