Story

In Perpetuity Memorial Maintenance. The Combined Operations Command memorial, which remembers all who served in or alongside the Combined Operations Command in WW2, was dedicated in 2013. To ensure it is maintained to a good standard in perpetuity, an agreement between the National Memorial Arboretum and the Combined Operations Memorial Fund, costing £6,135, has been signed. It covers the routine and regular maintenance of the memorial footprint and surrounding ground as detailed below:

Thermatec ® cleaning inc. hand wash where necessary, of memorial stone and integrated objects (twice per annum min); Chemical: herbicide, pesticide, or fungicide application (min. 2 applications per annum); Hand mowing and collect (around memorial footprint and other integrated objects, min. 36 cuts per annum); Weeding (in and around memorial footprint and other integrated objects; bi-weekly); Strim perimeter (around memorial footprint and other integrated objects, min. 36 cuts/year.) and Re-grouting paving or block paving (maximum once every 5 years).

The Combined Operations Memorial Fund (COMF) has acquired an interest-free loan of £6,135 to allow the agreement to come into immediate effect and the purpose of this fundraising effort is to repay the loan. Any surplus will be added to the COMF for the maintenance of the memorial structures not covered in the agreement. The full story, including a copy of the signed agreement, can be found on the above link.

Donations of any size will be warmly welcomed and gratefully received. Thank you for your interest and support.
