Story

The Community Christmas Celebration is back!

For ten days only we are fundraising for the Community Christmas Celebration! An initiative that aims to bring the entire community together and share the meaning and spirit of Christmas. So what are we doing this year?

This year, we are hosting a Community Christmas Celebration on the 23 December at Hurst Green Community Centre. This will be an opportunity for everybody to come together at Christmas time, and celebrate; from making Christmas crafts, and engaging in activities, to listening to carols, and visiting Father Christmas, with light refreshments provided throughout! All free of charge!

We are also supporting other local initiatives to support those most at need this Christmas time. Our main local initiative that we are supporting is the Hurst Green Community Centre's Christmas Lunch for those who are on their own this Christmas Day.

So why are we doing this?

Last year, The Accessibility Project set this initiative up in the memory of a local young man, Joseph Geddes, who passed away before his time. Joe embodied the Christmas Spirit. He was a shining star amongst us all. It is important we carry on his legacy, but we carry on all our loved ones legacies, our communities. For Christmas is a time of celebration for so many, but it is also a time of grief, isolation, stress, fear, and we want to use this initiative to relieve some of those feelings.

What does your donation go towards?

Your donations are one of the only ways that we are able to pull off such event. Donations will support other proceeds to enable the following:

- Santa's Gifts for Children in the Community

- Gifts for those most at economic & isolation need

- Gifts for the HGCC Christmas Lunch

- Running costs of the event

Any left over donations will be donated to local charities, which will be made public.
