Story

St Luke’s Church is an active church with a membership of around 100. It is also the focal point of West Norwood, a busy suburban community in South London. Because of it’s size, location and amenities it is much in demand for community activities. Open 7 days a week, the church hosts a foodbank twice a week, a Robes project winter night shelter for homeless people, a breakfast and after school club for local primary schools and a nursery and preschool for local at-risk families. The churchyard and St Luke’s Memorial Garden are the focal points for West Norwood Feast, a monthly community-run street market. The building is also used as an information point by our local council, LB Lambeth and a community resource for local groups, meetings and exhibitions.

The toilets and coffee bar were installed in the 1980s and they are falling apart. We also need to improve the electrical installation to make the building safer and improve energy-efficiency and capacity.

We are currently raising money to fund concept design which will be undertaken by our church architects. This will allow us to accurately cost the project, select delivery partners and submit detailed grant applications.
