Weʼre raising £2,000 to help purchase essential computer equipment for digital skills workshops for seniors and elderly people

Don't have time to donate right now?

Story

I am writing to you to request £2000 to support the purchase of essential computer and technology equipment to be able to continue to support elderly people in Southwark through weekly digital skills workshops.

Introduction

I started teaching elderly people how to use a computer and interact with public service online on the 5th of January 2024. I recognise the importance of bridging the digital divide and ensuring that seniors and elderly people have access to essential digital skills and resources and that they can manage their health online.

Overview

My work involves the implementation of digital skills workshops tailored specifically for seniors and elderly people in our community. These workshops will cover topics such as basic computer skills, internet literacy, online safety, and using digital devices effectively. However, we do not have the essential equipment to ensure that the learners get the best out of my workshops.

My Work:

The primary goals of my work are:

- To provide seniors and elderly people with the essential digital skills and knowledge needed to navigate the digital world confidently.

- To promote social inclusion and connectivity by empowering seniors to stay connected with family, friends, and community resources online.

- To enhance the overall well-being and quality of life of seniors through meaningful engagement with technology and digital resources.

What do we need the money for?

I am requesting £2000 to cover the following expenses:

- Purchase of essential computer and technology equipment, including laptops, tablets, keyboards, mice, and internet connectivity devices.

- Software licenses and subscriptions for digital skills training programs and online resources.

- Printing and materials for workshop handouts, guides, and educational materials.

Evaluation and Impact

I will evaluate the success and impact of the work (5th of Jan-5th of Dec 2024) through various metrics, including:

- Number of seniors and elderly people served

- Participant feedback and satisfaction surveys

- Progress towards digital literacy goals

- Increased confidence and proficiency in using digital devices and resources

- Social connections and engagement with online communities and resources

By investing in digital skills workshops for seniors and elderly people, we can empower them to embrace technology and thrive in the digital age. I appreciate your consideration of our grant proposal and look forward to the opportunity to partner with you in this important endeavour.

Thank you for your time and support.
