Story

2018 marks 100 years since WW1 ended. In regards, Lord Dannatt has set out the challenge where 48 wounded soldiers and 96 young people will come together to embark on the adventures of the wild waters all the way round Great Britain. Completing four legs: London, Edinburgh, Belfast and Cardiff, in only 40 days on board a specially adapted tall ship.

In each capital city there will be a celebration of remembrance, inclusivity and diversity, where a quarter of a wooden shield will be presented to the crew. At the end of the challenge the final piece of the shield will be presented in London where the cadets will march the shield to the Tower of London, the shield will be a WW1 Memorial.

Leaving from Edinburgh on the 4th August i will join the crew and fellow cadets to assist 12 Injured service personnel on the second leg of the journey, arriving in Belfast on the 14th August.

This is rather daunting as i have never sailed before let alone supported others to do so!

I am honoured to be selected to represent The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Army Cadet Force on this adventure and look forward to the amazing experience this will be. I joined the cadets at 13yrs old and have gained valuable life skills that i hope will come in handy on the open seas!

However to enable me to take part i have been set the task of raising £1995 to cover the cost of the journey, and we are undertaking various Expeditions and Fundraising events

I will continue to update everyone on my fundraising challenges and appreciate any support or sponsorship given.
