Story
The Torrent Complex in Donaghmore provides a range of opportunities for all age groups, including sport and fitness, nutritional guidance, drama, music and dance, through the Bardic Theatre and Youth Club. Sometimes, when undertaking new exciting and imaginative development plans, the members of the DDCA (Donaghmore District Community Association) need to look to the local community for support in providing even better and improved facilities and specialist coaching opportunities for all our members, both the young and not so young.
The latest phase of the development plan is currently underway with a new extension being erected to the side and rear of the Torrent Complex. This new building will accommodate and facilitate a much wider and broader range of sporting related opportunities to meet the ever-increasing number of youth and older residents now involved on a daily and weekly basis.
In trying to achieve all of this, I am helping to address a shortfall of funding . I am one of forty volunteers associated with the association who are going to spend a night in Crumlin Road Gaol, (Belfast) with each convict having to raise £2,000 in bail money in order to secure their release and freedom the following day. We hope through this unique fundraising endeavour to raise somewhere in the region of £80,000 which is needed to meet the current shortfall.
All donations to this worthy cause are greatly appreciated.
